Explore our Mediterranean-inspired menus, then linger around the table for a long lunch, winter warmer, or slow sip from a shared carafe. Chef Damien and our dedicated kitchen team pour their hearts into every dish, collaborating closely with local farmers to showcase Wānaka’s best local produce.
The Sofi menu evolves with the seasons, infused with Mediterranean flavours. Think mezze delights, slow-cooked tagines, open fire flames, smokey meats and vegetables, grilled seafood, and breathtaking lake-and-mountain views, from lunch well into the evening.

We built the drinks list at Sofi for the kind of long lakeside lunches that effortlessly stretch into dinner. For us, it’s all about bridging the gap between the Mediterranean coastline and our own Central Otago peaks. We pair our house-crafted cocktails, like our signature pomegranate margarita and fresh, bright spritzes, with a wine list we’re incredibly proud of. From premium local drops to imported European gems and our favourite glass-pour sherries, this is a lineup we built for bold flavours, big pours, and absolutely zero pretence. Located in the heart of Wānaka’s night life and overlooking the lake, Sofi Wānaka offers two unique event spaces - our covered and heated lakeside terrace and our private dining room. For larger groups, go ahead and book the full Sofi restaurant and terrace.

A taste of the Mediterranean, a shared meal amongst friends. A slower way to feast, indulge, and bask in the glow of good food and better company. We’re Sofi, the Wānaka restaurant nestled into the lakefront, defined by vibrant flavours and inspired by faraway seas.
We opened back in December 2024, bringing Sofi to life just in time for long summer nights, mezze by the lake, and meeting the good locals and visitors of Wānaka. An inspired tour of the Mediterranean in Wānaka, following the sun through the Greek Islands, South of France and coastal Turkey, before seeking winter comforts in Morocco and Spain. With a Sofi signature cocktail in hand, of course.
